About “The Son of Hannah”:

"The Son of Hannah" was the opening track during Alex Henry Foster's first concert under his own name, marking a comeback on the stage after 3 years absent from the public eye, on July 5, 2019, for the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal. 

The concert has been turned into a critically acclaimed album, "Standing Under Bright Lights", the vinyl version of which did not previously include "The Son of Hannah". 

Created for his return to the stage, "The Son of Hannah" is based on a story from the old testament and reflects on the personal struggles to keep faith alive in moments of great despair. It is also an acknowledgment of our deepest need in times of hopelessness. But most of all, it’s the poignant testimony of a man’s redemption that led to his son’s forgiveness and untimely inspired him to find his own way of being free, whatever it may mean.

The sky map on the slipmat and the tote bag is one of Montreal on July 5, 2019, day on which Alex Henry Foster performed live as a solo artist for the first time at the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal. The sky, immortalized in a print, was our way to commemorate what marked a fateful moment for Alex Henry Foster & The Long Shadows, one that allowed everything that came after to take place, like some sort of a North Star on a dark night.

À propos de “The Son of Hannah” :

"The Son of Hannah" fut la chanson d’ouverture du premier concert d’Alex Henry Foster sous son propre nom, au Festival International de Jazz de Montréal, le 5 juillet 2019. Ce concert a également marqué son retour sur scène après une absence de 3 ans de sous les projecteurs et le regard du public réuni.

Le concert est devenu un album acclamé par la critique, "Standing Under Bright Lights", la version vinyle n'incluant pas la chanson "The Son of Hannah".

Créée pour son retour sur scène, la chanson "The Son of Hannah" est basée sur une histoire de l'ancien testament et médite sur les combats personnels pour garder la foi vivante dans les moments de grand désespoir. C'est aussi une reconnaissance de notre besoin le plus profond en période de désespoir. Mais surtout, c’est le témoignage poignant de la rédemption d’un homme qui a conduit au pardon de son fils et qui l’a incité à trouver sa propre manière d’être libre, quoi que cela puisse signifier.

La carte du ciel sur la feutrine et le sac à bandoulières est celle de Montréal le 5 juillet 2019, soir où Alex Henry Foster s'est produit en concert en tant qu'artiste solo pour la première fois au Festival International de Jazz de Montréal. Le ciel, immortalisé dans une impression, était notre façon de commémorer ce qui a marqué un moment fatidique pour Alex Henry Foster & The Long Shadows, un moment qui a permis à tout ce qui a suivi de se dérouler, comme une sorte d'étoile du Nord par une nuit noire.
